USA Mavericks Baseball

A Strong History and Philosophy

The USA Mavericks (AAU) Baseball Club was established in the fall of 2004 with one U13 team. We are part of the New England AAU Baseball District. The Club now has six baseball age divisions (U12, U13, U14, U15, U16 & U17). All teams provide their players with competitive play against other top ranked New England AAU Baseball teams. The USA Mavericks participated in the AAU National Championship Tournaments in both 2005 and 2006. In 2006, the U13 Division team ranked 11th in the nation! The USA Mavericks tradition has begun early and is strong, albeit, a relatively newly formed Club.

Our philosophy is to provide each player with high-quality instruction and training in the off-season (October-March), a chance to play highly competitive baseball, and an opportunity to improve and enhance their skills to play at the next level (i.e. school baseball, legion, etc.) in a professionally staffed baseball environment. Our professionally trained staff will help each individual player develop his game to its maximum potential. Each team is trained in every aspect of the game, focusing on the proper fundamentals of both individual and team play.

Since our program is for "serious" ball players only, we encourage all players to consider restricting their play to their school baseball team and Mavericks ONLY. We realize some of you may wish to play on town teams, but we expect and require all Mavericks activities (practices, games, meetings, etc.) to receive first priority except when concerning a school team. Participation on a town all-star team is not allowed, i.e. Babe Ruth, Senior League, etc. as their game schedules directly conflict with the Mavericks' game and tournament schedules. We have found through experience, that given our demanding schedule and travel, players and parents realize that this is the most effective approach to take as well as the safest for the young developing player. We take very seriously protecting our ballplayers' arms and not overusing them.

We aim to teach each player responsibility, a strong work ethic, determination, sportsmanship, teamwork, self-confidence and respect. We stress that each player be accountable for himself. Through our teachings and our rules and regulations, we feel each player will become a better all-around student athlete.

Program Goals & Objectives

The purpose of our program is to "develop" the athlete into a complete baseball player. We will utilize a staff of "professional instructors" that will teach players how to train for and play at a highly competitive level while maximizing and testing their own personal abilities. Our program also stresses the importance of achieving academic excellence in the classroom. Players must maintain excellent grades. Achieving and maintaining good grades indicate dedication and hard work. These same qualities are also needed to achieve success in life and on the field.
